Christian Schmitz-Steinberg

Christian Schmitz-Steinberg (born November 13, 1920 ; † 1981 ) was a German musician (piano, accordion), band leader , arranger and composer who was active in jazz , easy listening and light music.

Live and act

Schmitz-Steinberg, born 1920 in Schneidemühl, lived in Munich, played 1948 in Freddie Brocksieper's Brocksi Quartet or sextet piano (“ Body and Soul ”, Brunswick ); around 1960 he published the single "Malaguena" on the Jupiter label ( musical business card ). During this time, recordings were also made with Conny Froboess ("Schicke, Schicke Schuh", "I Love You Baby"). In 1971 he presented the easy-listening LP Romantic Love Story (MPS); In 1972 he worked as an arranger for an MPS session for Art Van Damme ( Squeezing Art & Tender Flutes ). In 1974 he was the orchestra leader on Svend Asmussen's MPS album Amazing Strings . In the field of jazz he was involved in six recording sessions between 1948 and 1974. Schmitz-Steinberg also worked with the tenor Kruno Cigoj and for several television companies.

He also composed a number of titles such as “The small city wants to go to sleep”, “Le ciel d'amour” or “Rainbow Concerto” (with Hans Vlig van der Sys). He arranged the music for the film So schön wie heute '- An Evening for Franz Grothe (1978, director: Karl Ulrich ) and had an appearance in the Robert Stolz biopic Mein Leben - mein Lieder: Robert Stolz (1967, director: Alexis Neve ). After his death, a self-titled album was published by Reichertshausen Solcade-Musikverlag.

Christian Schmitz-Steinberg was with Brigitte Schmitz, geb. Schatz (* 1939), daughter of Adolf Raskin , married.
