Johann Christian Spiegelberg (* 1682 in Danzig ; † 23 August 1732 in Bergen ) was a German theater actor and director.

Life

Johann Christian Spiegelberg was married to Elisabeth Denner , daughter of the theater principal Johann Carl Denner . Their wedding on August 25, 1710 in Braunschweig was a double wedding, at which Elisabeth and Johann Christian Spiegelberg married Elisabeth's brother Leonhard as well. Their daughter Georgine Caroline Auguste Ernestine was married to Conrad Ekhof .

Like his brother-in-law and partner Leonhard Andreas Denner , Spiegelberg was involved in Catharina Velten's drama troupe before the two got together after their death and together led a theater troupe for several years in succession to the Velten court comedians . Denner's theater privilege was transferred to Spiegelberg in 1714, who as the theater principal led the company under the name Königl. Great Britannian and Churhannoversche Hof Comoedianten led and traveled with them through northern and central Germany. Members of the Spiegelberg theater troupe were a. a. Friederike Caroline Weißenborn and Johann Neuber . From 1722 the Spiegelbergs were engaged at the ducal Weißenfelser Hof , besides they played, typical for these employment relationships, with other troops, e.g. B. 1725 in the Prague Ensemble. After their engagement at the Weißenfelser Hof, they joined the Wolfenbüttler court comedians in 1730. The collaboration lasted two years. In 1732 Johann Christian Spiegelberg traveled with a new theater company to Scandinavia, where he died in Bergen that same year . His widow took over the principality and played in Scandinavia until 1739 .
