Christian Sterzing

Christian Sterzing (born April 30, 1949 in Krefeld ) is a German lawyer and politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ).

biography

Christian Sterzing passed his Abitur examination after attending school in Bremen in 1968. From 1968 to 1973 he studied philosophy and law in Hamburg. From 1973 to 1975 he did a peace service as a conscientious objector with the Action Reconciliation / Peace Services in Israel . He then studied social pedagogy in Berlin, Mainz and Frankfurt / Main from 1975 to 1981.

From 1977 to 2010 he was a board member of the German-Israeli working group for peace in the Middle East (diAk) and editor of the magazine "israel & palestina".

Professional policy

From 1989 to 1994 he worked for the GREEN group in the European Parliament. From 1992 to 1994 he was board spokesman for the state association of the Greens in Rhineland-Palatinate . He was elected to the German Bundestag in 1994 and was a member of parliament until 2002.

After leaving the Bundestag, he headed the office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Ramallah from 2004 to 2009 .
