Christian Strasser (journalist)

Christian Strasser (born May 4, 1964 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian journalist and book author.

Life

After attending elementary school and high school in Elixhausen and Salzburg from 1974 to 1982 and serving in the Austrian Armed Forces , Strasser began studying law, politics and journalism / communication science and cultural sociology at the University of Salzburg in 1983 . Even as a student, Strasser repeatedly worked for daily newspapers, magazines, electronic media and news agencies. In 1988 and 1992 he successfully completed his studies with a Mag.iur. and Mag.phil. from.

In 1988, Strasser was sent to the USA as a “Junior Ambassador” to improve Austria's image on behalf of Thomas Klestil - at that time a senior employee of the Foreign Ministry as a result of the Waldheim affair .

Since 1990 he has published around 12 books on cultural and contemporary history, including a biography of Carl Zuckmayer.

In 1994 the Salzburger Nachrichten (SN) hired him as an employee in the local and later business editorial team . Half a year later he switched to publishing management, as head of the special inserts / supplements department. Since 2003 he has been working as an advertising manager at the Salzburger Tageszeitung, with an interruption between 2006 and 2009 as marketing manager.

Strasser is the founder of numerous magazines and media projects from SN, u. a. of the borderland magazine "Hello Neighbor!", the "SN Business Academy", "Pure Alps", "Top 500 - The Best Companies", "Pole Position", the "Leonidas Sports Gala", the " SN career forums ”and numerous internet platforms (joblounge.at, karriereforum.eu etc.).

Memberships and offices

From 1998 to 2011 Strasser was President of the “Marketing Club Salzburg”. From 1992 to 2004, Strasser was a member of the “Salzburg Commission”, an unofficial committee of experts that advised the state government on various issues. In 2007 he was co-founder and vice-president of the AMC (Austrian Marketing Confederation), which includes associations across Austria with 1,500 marketing specialists and which is associated with the European Marketing Confederation in Brussels. He is also a member of the PEN and the “Initiative Kulturstadt Salzburg” (IKS).
