Christian Thies

Christian Thies (born March 26, 1959 in Kaltenkirchen ) is a German philosopher and has been a professor of philosophy at the University of Passau since 2009 .

Life

Thies studied philosophy, history and educational science for teaching at grammar schools. After the first state examination in 1987 and his legal clerkship at two high schools in Hamburg, he passed the second state examination in 1989. From 1990 to 1992 he worked on an educational project in the port of Hamburg. In 1996 he received his doctorate , after which Thies was a post-doctoral student in the graduate college “Aesthetic Education”. From 1999 to 2006 Thies worked as a research assistant at the University of Rostock at the chair for practical philosophy; afterwards he worked on a project at the Center for Life Science Automation in Rostock-Warnemünde. In 2007 Thies received his habilitation ; from 2007 to 2009 he acted as deputy managing director of the Research Institute for Philosophy in Hanover . Thies has held the teaching professorship for philosophy at the University of Passau since October 2009 .
