Christian Wagner (born August 4, 1971 in Hagen ) is a German municipal civil servant ( CDU ) and full-time mayor of the city of Nettetal in the Viersen district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

After attending the St. Josef Kindergarten and elementary school, Wagner went to the Ricarda-Huch School in Hagen. After graduating from high school in 1991, he did his military service in the Air Force in Goslar and Borgentreich . From 1992 to 1997 he studied law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . From 1994 he worked there as a student assistant . After the first state examination, Wagner worked in the teaching and research area of ​​mining and environmental law at RWTH Aachen University . From 1998 to 2000 Wagner was a trainee lawyer at the Münster Regional Court . For a few months in 2000 he worked in a law firm in Ahaus . This was followed by the position of head of department at the local political association .

On 29 January 2002 Christian Wagner was appointed Assistant Secretary selected the city of Nettetal. On March 25, 2003, he became the mayor's first deputy and general representative.

Wagner was elected full-time mayor of the city of Nettetal on October 10, 2004. In the run-off election he received 65.8% of the votes cast. He was re-elected on August 30, 2009 with 56.06% of the vote.

On November 5, 2013, he prematurely resigned from the mayor's office to enable a joint election with the council on May 25, 2014.

Wagner is married and has a son and a daughter.
