Christian Wegmann
Christian Wegmann (born February 22, 1976 in Münster ) is a former German cyclist and sports director .
Christian Wegmann initially drove for the German team Die Continentale-Olympia from 1997 to 1999 . During this time he finished 8th in the World Cup race HEW Cyclassics in 1998 and was third overall in the 1999 Germany Tour . He then moved to the Italian first division Saeco , for whom he won a stage each in the 2001 Tour of Austria and the 2002 Tour of Bavaria .
After Christian Wegmann tested positive for caffeine at the Hessen Tour in 2002 , which was later removed from the doping list, he did not find a new team and ended his active career. He was not banned but was fined 2000 Swiss francs . Wegmann studied medicine and at the same time became sports director, first in 2005 with the Sparkasse team and from 2006 to 2008 with the Gerolsteiner team , where he also looked after his younger brother Fabian .
