Christian Werner Thomsen

Christian Werner Thomsen (born August 1, 1940 in Dresden ) is a German Anglicist.

Life

From the summer semester of 1961 he studied English , German and theater studies in Tübingen . After receiving his doctorate in 1967 with a dissertation on Seneca and Pre-Shakespearean Tragedy, he became Kurt Ottens first assistant. The Minister of Culture of the State of Hesse appointed him professor for English and American literature at the University of Marburg in 1972 . After completing his habilitation in English and American studies in 1973 with a thesis on the grotesque in the English novel of the 18th century , he was appointed to the University of Siegen in August 1973. He retired in 2005 .
