Kurt Otten

Kurt Otten (born March 2, 1926 in Trier ; † April 23, 2016 ) was a German Anglicist .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1944, he did military service. He spent almost four years in French and English captivity. He completed his studies in English, French and Latin in Tübingen with the state examination. After his legal clerkship , his doctorate (The time in content and shape of Shakespeare's early dramas ) on August 16, 1954, habilitation ( King Alfreds Boethius ) in 1962, he became a visiting professor in Hamburg in 1962 . In 1963 he took over a chair for English philology in Marburg . In 1975 he followed a call to Heidelberg .
