Christian Wilhelm Lindemann

Christian Wilhelm Lindemann (born October 17, 1798 in Lüneburg ; † August 1, 1867 there ) was a German lawyer and politician.

Life

Lindemann was born in 1798 as the son of Caroline Friederike Wilhelmine, née Claaßen, and the lawyer Christian Gottfried Lindemann (1767–1834) in Lüneburg. From 1810 on he attended the Johanneum in Lüneburg. On April 22nd, 1817 he enrolled to study law at the University of Göttingen . He completed his studies in 1820 with a doctorate. both rights. Lindemann became a lawyer and notary in Lüneburg in 1822 . In 1822 he became a city senator. From 1823 to 1846 he held the office of syndic of the city of Lüneburg; his successor as Syndicus was the lawyer and senator Georg Theodor Meyer . In 1846 Lindemann became the city's first mayor and resigned from his work as a lawyer and notary. He remained mayor until 1850 when he became Minister of the Interior of the Kingdom of Hanover . He held this office until September 22, 1851, when the cabinet of the Kingdom of Hanover resigned. As a minister he was a member of the Hanover State Council . He was then from 1852 to 1859 director of the Lüneburg Higher Court . From 1862 until his death in 1867 he was mayor .

He was married to Johanna Sophie Elisabeth Degen. The two had two sons Carl († 1880) and Wilhelm († 1872).
