Christian Wrede

Christian Wrede (born May 10, 1896 in Erlangen ; † January 13, 1971 there ) was a German sculptor .

Christian Wrede, the son of a master carpenter, attended the arts and crafts school in Nuremberg . After returning from the First World War, he studied from April 1920 at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts with Balthasar Schmitt . Here he settled down as a busy sculptor. In 1930 he was still a member of the Erlangen Art Association and took part in its exhibitions. Since his Munich apartment was bombed out at the end of World War II, he temporarily moved back to Erlangen. Here he participated in the new beginning of art life and the activities of the art association, which was re-established in 1950. In the 1950s he won numerous competitions.
