Christian Zeller (geographer)

Christian Zeller (born August 30, 1962 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian geographer .

Life

Zeller studied economics at the University of Basel from 1983 to 1984 . This was followed by a degree in geography there until 1990 . He finished his studies in April 1990 with a diploma thesis on transport planning in the city of Basel . In November 2000, Zeller received his doctorate with a dissertation on the development of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis into a global company. Zeller completed his habilitation in April 2008.

After working as an assistant at the Institute for Geography at the University of Basel from 1993 to 1996, Zeller worked from 1997 to 2000 as an assistant at the Hamburg University in the Department of Economic Geography in a DFG project . From 2002 to 2008 he worked as an assistant at the University of Bern . Zeller then took over the professorship for economic geography at the University of Salzburg .

Zeller is involved in the political movement Aufbruch for an eco-socialist alternative that was founded in Austria in spring 2016.
