Ernst Gideon Narib (born May 27, 1990 ) is a Namibian sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Gideon Ernst Narib gained his first international experience at the Summer Universiade 2011 in Shenzhen , where he was eliminated in the first round of the 400-meter run with 49.17 seconds. Two years later he reached the semifinals at the Student World Games in Kazan and was eliminated there with 47.96 s. In 2015 he took part in the Africa Games in Brazzaville for the first time and also made it to the semi-finals there, where he was eliminated with 47.49 s. At the Summer Universiade 2017 in Taipei , he also reached the semi-finals in the 200-meter run , where he was eliminated with 21.91 seconds. In 2018 he took part over 400 meters in the African Championships in Asaba and was eliminated there with 47.11 seconds in the semifinals. In addition, he did not reach the final with the Namibian 4 x 400 meter relay with a new national record of 3: 11.53 min. The following year he took part again in the African Games in Rabat and reached the semi-finals there over 200 and 400 meters, in which he was eliminated over 200 meters with 21.17 s and could not finish his race over 400 meters. In addition, he reached sixth place with the relay in 3: 10.12 minutes.

In 2013, 2017 and 2018 Narib was Namibian champion in the 400 meter run and in 2017 and 2019 also over 200 meters.
