Christian von Rentelen , Kersten in Low German († June 1, 1431 in Lübeck ) was a Lübeck councilor and fleet commander.

Life

Christian von Rentelen was the son of the councilor and later Lübeck mayor Henning von Rentelen . Possibly before 1409 he became a member of the patrician circle society . This is evidenced by his role as one of the founders of the Circular Brothers Altar , now in the St. Anne's Museum . His coat of arms is on the left wing of the retable. Christian von Rentelen was elected to the city council in 1426. In 1427 he was in command of the Lübeck fleet. In Lübeck citizens' wills he is listed several times as a documentary witness and guardian .

Christian von Rentelen was married to Herdrade, a daughter of the Lübeck councilor Hinrich Pepersack, and lived in his father's house at Breite Straße 39 . He donated a chalice to the castle monastery (Lübeck) for use on the Katharinen altar donated by his father. His son Michael von Rentelen became Dominican and in 1462 titular bishop of Symbalon and auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Schwerin .
