Christiane Rajewsky

Christiane Rajewsky (born June 16, 1934 in Lüdenscheid as Christiane Franke ; † May 21, 1993 ) was a German political scientist , peace researcher and peace educator .

Life

Christiane Rajewsky studied Oriental Studies, History, Politics and Comparative Religious Studies at the Universities of Munich, Istanbul and Bonn. After completing her Magistra Artium in 1963, she was a research assistant at the research institute of the German Society for Foreign Policy until 1973 , then lecturer in political science with a focus on social and local politics as well as political education in the department of social pedagogy at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences , where she became professor for life in 1975 was appointed.

Her main focus in teaching and publications was peace research as well as neo-Nazism and right-wing extremism . In 1987 she founded the "Neo-Nazism Office", which she headed until her death in 1993. It was the first research focus at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences to be recognized by the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Science . Since 1994 it has been called “Research Focus Right-Wing Extremism / Neo-Nazism” ( FORENA ).

She was a member of the jury for the Gustav Heinemann Peace Prize .

Christiane Rajewsky was married to Klaus Rajewsky and has two children. Your son is the German bioinformatician Nikolaus Rajewsky .

Christiane Rajewsky Prize

The Christiane Rajewsky Prize is a prize for young talent that was founded in 1993 by the Working Group for Peace and Conflict Research (Augsburg) and dedicated to Christiane Rajewsky in 1996. It is awarded annually to young scientists or initiatives “who have made an outstanding contribution to peace and conflict research” and has been endowed with a thousand euros since 2008.
