Christof Landmesser

Christof Landmesser (born December 22, 1959 in Rommelshausen, today Kernen im Remstal ) is a Protestant theologian and New Testament scholar at the University of Tübingen .

Life

Christof Landmesser completed an apprenticeship as an insurance salesman from 1975 to 1977 and obtained general university entrance qualification in 1980. From 1980 to 1981 he was then at the language college of the Evangelical Church in Stuttgart .

This was followed by a degree in theology, which he completed in 1988 with the first theological exam. During this time he was a scholarship holder at the Evangelical Monastery in Tübingen from 1981 to 1986 . During his studies he also took part in the teaching course of the German Evangelical Institute for Classical Studies in the Holy Land in Jordan and Israel. His vicariate and a teaching position at the technical college for social pedagogy in Tübingen from 1988 to 1990 followed his studies. After the second theological exam, the ordination followed on September 9, 1990.

From 1990 to 2003 Landmesser was assistant in the New Testament subject at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . After receiving his doctorate and being awarded the doctoral prize by the University of Tübingen, he was a guest at the graduate college 'The Bible - Its Origin and Effect' from 1998 to 2000. In 2000 his habilitation followed.

From 2003 to 2006 he was Professor of the New Testament at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. Since the winter semester 2006/2007 he has been professor for the New Testament with a focus on Paul and the Paul School, theology and hermeneutics of the New Testament at the Evangelical Theological Faculty in Tübingen .

Christof Landmesser has been chairman of the Rudolf Bultmann Society since 2008 and a member of the EKD committee for dialogue with the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. He has been an early preacher at the collegiate church in Tübingen since 2008.

Since October 2013 he has been the supervisor in the Graduate School 1808 Ambiguity Production and Reception.

He is the main editor of the scientific correspondence from Rudolf Bultmann (Mohr Siebeck, Tübingen) and co-editor of the series: Hermeneutic Studies on Theology (Mohr Siebeck, Tübingen), works on the Bible and its history (Evangelische Verlagsanstalt, Leipzig), publications by the Rudolf-Bultmann- Society for Hermeneutic Theology eV
