Christoph Arentz
Franz Xaver Christoph Arentz (* 23. February 1766 in Mainz ; † 12. March 1851 ibid; also Father Hilary , also Arens and Arenz ) was a German Benedictine - Father and scientists .
Life
On May 29, 1790, Arentz became a priest in the Benedictine order with the religious name Pater Hilarius and as such subsequently vicar of the knightly monastery of St. Ferrutius in Bleidenstadt . Later he was high school professor for experimental physics at the Mainz high school until his retirement .
Arentz was acquainted with the Augustinian Father Alexius Johann in Mainz and described in his publication description of the astronomical clock which was calculated and manufactured by Mr. Nicolaus Alexius Johann, member of the former Augustinian Order in Mainz, in 1807, dermal as the property of the city of Mainz in the city library is set up (Verlag Simon Müller, Mainz 1830) for the first time in detail its second large astronomical clock .
