Christoph Báthory
Christoph Báthory (from Somlyo, Hungarian Báthory Kristóf ; * 1530 ; buried May 27, 1581 in Weißenburg ) was Prince of Transylvania and brother of the Polish King Stephan Báthory .
In 1557, Queen Isabella commissioned him to visit the French king in France. In the years around 1565 Christoph Báthory was in the service of Johann Sigismund Zápolya and achieved a significant victory against Turkish troops at Chust . Between 1571 and 1576 Christopher Báthory captain of the fortress was Wardein (Várad). When his brother Stephan Báthory was made King of Poland in 1576, Christoph became Prince of Transylvania .
