Christoph Bauer (theologian)

Christoph Bauer (born February 2, 1718 in Schneeberg , † September 26, 1778 in Wurzen ) was a German and Lutheran theologian .

Life

The son of the Scheeberger Rector Johann Christoph Bauer and his wife Regina (née Gruner), attended school in his hometown.In the winter semester of 1738 he moved to the University of Leipzig , in 1739 he moved to the University of Wittenberg , where he obtained the degree of master's degree in 1740 . He pursued the career path of a theologian, passed his first exam in Dresden in 1743 and was ordained as a deacon in Graefenhainichen on May 11, 1744 in Wittenberg .

In 1749 he became pastor in Pratau , in 1766 superintendent in Graefenhainichen and in 1768 superintendent in Wurzen, as well as a member of the collegiate consistory there. He was married to Rahel Christina, the daughter of the pastor of Jüdenberg Johann Christoph Koppe.
