Christoph Birkmann
Christoph Birkmann (born January 10, 1703 in Nuremberg ; † March 11, 1771 ibid) was a Bach student and lyricist of numerous Bach cantatas , pastor from 1727, later senior of St. Egidien Nuremberg, the recently built and only baroque church in the city .
Life
Birkmann studied theology and mathematics at the University of Leipzig from 1724 to 1727 and during this time worked as a musician in Bach's cantatas. Famous cantata texts that are ascribed to Birkmann are among others. a. I would like to carry the cross staff ( BWV 56) and I've had enough , BWV 82.
