Christoph Ferdinand IV. Philipp von Degenfeld (born April 7, 1772 at Neuhaus Palace ; † January 1, 1858 in Karlsruhe ) was the landlord of Neuhaus, co-lord of Ehrstädt , Eulenhof , Waibstadt , Unterbiegelhof and Wagenbach .

Life

He was a son of Christoph Eberhard Friedrich von Degenfeld (1737–1792) and Sophia Luise Salome von Stain zum Rechtenstein (1740–1811) and thus belonged to the second Neuhauser line of the family, the division of the inheritance between his father and his brothers was created. Nevertheless, the entire property of the family was managed as a condominium , which Christoph Ferdinand's father managed as a senior from 1784 to 1792.

Christoph Ferdinand came to the court of the Baden margrave Karl Friedrich in Karlsruhe in 1786 . In 1800 he became a hunting squire and in 1801 a chamberlain. In 1803 he became head forester in Gengenbach . From 1806 he was chamberlain . In 1807 he moved to Gernsbach and Rastatt to Gernsbach as head forester. In 1819 he took up residence in Rastatt. He was awarded the Zähringer Lion Order by Grand Duke Ludwig I in 1821 and retired in 1834.

He was buried in the Neuhaus palace chapel.

family

He married Augusta von Freystedt (1780–1861) in Karlsruhe on June 2, 1808, a daughter of Carl Friedrich Hermann von Freystedt , the commander of the entire Baden military. The marriage had two sons. Both sons embarked on a military career.

The son Ferdinand Christoph retired in 1843 due to a mental illness. His marriage also ended in divorce because of it. A little later he died at the age of 33, leaving behind only one daughter. His brother Alfred Ludwig achieved the rank of lieutenant general. His son Ferdinand Edmund died in the battle of Nuits in 1870, so that with Alfred Ludwig's death in 1888 the second Neuhauser line of the male line of the family died out.
