Count Christoph Friedrich zu Stolberg-Stolberg (born September 18, 1672 in Ortenberg , † August 22, 1738 in Stolberg ) was a German regent. He ruled over the county of Stolberg in the southern Harz from 1704 until his death in 1738 . In 1706 and 1719 he and his brother Jost Christian agreed on the division of the county into a Stolberg-Stolberg and a Stolberg-Roßlaischen part.

Life

He was the son of the ruling Count Christoph Ludwig I. zu Stolberg-Stolberg (1634–1704) and grandson of Count Johann Martin zu Stolberg . He was married to Henriette Katharina von Bibran and Modlau (1680–1748) on September 25, 1701.

The following children were born from this marriage:

  1. Christoph Ludwig II. Zu Stolberg-Stolberg (1703–1761) ∞ Luise Charlotte zu Stolberg – Roßla (1716–1796)
  2. Luise Friederike zu Stolberg – Stolberg (1710–1757) ∞ Count Hans Heinrich IV. Von Hochberg
  3. Christian Günther zu Stolberg-Stolberg (1714–1765) ∞ Christiane Charlotte zu Castell-Remlingen (1722–1773)

After long discussions, Count Christoph Friedrich introduced the primogeniture for the line he had founded on May 13, 1737, with reference to the fact that further partitions of the property would weaken the reputation of the house. The male siblings of the ruling count received the sum of 2,300 Reichstalers from the income of his property annually as an allowance. The consensus of the feudal lords would have had to be obtained in order to obtain full legal recognition of this primogeniture order. Count Christoph Friedrich did this neither with Electorate Saxony nor with Kurmainz , but asked what he believed to be the most influential of his liege lords, King George II of Great Britain as overlord of the ancestral county of Hohnstein, for his consent, which he received on October 27th and 7th respectively. Issued November 1738.
