Christoph Göbel (composer)

Christoph Julius Göbel (* 1976 in Leipzig ) is a German composer and university professor.

Life

From 1985 Christoph Julius Göbel received lessons in piano, composition and music theory at the Conservatory in Halle (Saale) and at the Music School in Leipzig. After attending the Humboldt-Gymnasium in Leipzig , he studied composition with Siegfried Thiele and music theory with Gesine Schröder at the University of Music and Theater Leipzig from 1997 to 2005 and composition with Christopher Brown at the Royal Academy of Music in London from 2004 to 2006 . From 2008 he was a lecturer for composition, ear training and practical school music-making at the Leipzig University of Music and Theater. Since 2014 he has been a full professor of ear training and composition there.

Works

Christoph Julius Göbel has emerged as both a composer of contemporary music and an arranger in the field of jazz, especially for vocal ensembles. He wrote commissioned works and arrangements for the Gewandhauschor , the Landesjugendchor Thuringia , the Ensemble amarcord and the Calmus Ensemble Leipzig .
