Christoph Homberger

Christoph Homberger (born October 10, 1962 in Zurich ) is a Swiss tenor .

Career

After studying singing with Ruth Rohner and Gösta Winbergh , he began a career as an oratorio and concert singer. His concerts have taken him as a soloist to the London Wigmore Hall, the Tonhalle Zurich, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Musikverein Vienna and the Salle Pleyel Paris.

Since he was discovered for opera by Herbert Wernicke in 1989 , Christoph Homberger's focus has been on the fusion of the scenic and musical components of characters. He worked regularly with the directors, theater makers and musicians Christoph Marthaler , Herbert Wernicke, Hans Neuenfels , Claus Peymann , Mauricio Kagel , Frank Castorf and Johan Simons . He is increasingly devoting himself to extraordinary and experimental music theater projects and developing roles that combine music and theater, singing and acting.

He has made guest appearances in productions and guest performances at the Volksbühne Berlin , Schauspielhaus Zürich , Opéra National de Paris , State Opera Hanover and Teatro La Fenice in Venice. He has also received invitations to the Salzburg Festival , the Vienna Festival , the Berlin Theatertreffen , the Bregenz Festival and the RuhrTriennale .

At the Ruhr Triennale in 2014 he played in the production singer without a shadow of Boris Nikitin .
