Christopher III. from Pappenheim

Christopher III. Pappenheim (* 21st March 1538 on Castle Red Stone ; † 13. January 1569 in Neus, France ) was a marshal from the noble family of Pappenheim .

Life

Christoph was the son of Wolfgang I († 1558) and his wife Margareta von Roth († 1555) and enjoyed training as a soldier. After the death of his father Wolfgang in 1558, Christoph decided, together with his brothers Philipp and Wolfgang, to go on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem , which he and Philipp broke off in Venice and then traveled to Switzerland. Like his brother Philipp , Christoph also professed the reformed faith , which both got to know in Switzerland. In 1568 he joined the Count Palatine Duke Wolfgang . Together with Count Palatine Duke Wolfgang, he moved to France with around 17,000 soldiers in 1568 to assist the Huguenots . Both died in France in 1569, before the Huguenot War ended in 1598. Christoph left no offspring.
