Wolfgang von Pappenheim († 1558 at Kalden Castle near Altusried ) was imperial councilor and from 1539 Reichsherbmarschall from the von Pappenheim family .

Life

Wolfgang von Pappenheim was the son of Wilhelm I von Pappenheim and his wife Magdalena von Rechberg . He was married to Margareta von Roth († 1555). From 1539 he was the eldest of the entire von Pappenheim family and in the same year received the fiefdom from Elector Johann Friedrich I of Saxony as eldest. In 1541 he received from Elector Johann Friedrich I the promise that the road from Nuremberg to Augsburg should run via Pappenheim . He was in the service of Emperor Charles V for 16 years and took part in the Reichstag in Augsburg in 1548 . He owned the Rotenstein , Kalden and Polsingen castles . From 1554, Wolfgang von Pappenheim lived at Kalden Castle, where he also died in 1558.

The epitaphs of Wolfgang and Margareta are both placed in the collegiate church of St. Philipp and Jakob in Bad Grönenbach .
