KIDsmiling cooking workshop 2017

The focus of the association's work is the KIDsmiling soccer project, which has been offering free, pedagogically guided soccer training on public sports fields in Cologne , Düsseldorf , Leverkusen , Bonn , Bergheim and Stuttgart since May 2007 . The training units are aimed at girls and boys between the ages of six and 18 who are often not connected to clubs and institutions. The football trainings take place all year round and are therefore a reliable constant in the lives of children and young people. In addition to having fun in sport and exercise, the trainers convey values such as fairness, solidarity and the non-violent resolution of conflicts. The training courses also make an important contribution to the integration of children and young people with a migration and refugee background and break down prejudices among one another. The offer is supplemented by annual winter and summer cups, in which the teams from the different locations can take part. The third KIDsmiling Winter Cup was held on February 8, 2020, in which over 200 children and young people from Cologne, Bonn, Leverkusen, Bergheim and Wesseling took part. In March 2018, Sandra von Möller, world champion Sonja Fuss, European champion Inka Grings and KIDsmiling godmother Shary Reeves welcomed over 30 girls between the ages of six and 16 for the first girls' training session on the training grounds of FC Viktoria Köln in the Höhenberg sports park.

KIDsmiling Football Cup 2017

For the participants in the soccer project, KIDsmiling also organizes cooking workshops where the girls and boys get an insight into food science and learn how to prepare substantial and healthy meals. Most recently, the kids were able to visit the show kitchen of the Breidenbacher Hof in Düsseldorf in November 2019 . In addition, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Caritas Association , KIDsmiling offers professional orientation events to support young people on their way to employment.
