Sandra von Möller

Sandra von Möller (born September 4, 1969 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German entrepreneur and lawyer. She is the managing director of the medium-sized technology company BÄRO GmbH & Co. KG and the founder and chairwoman of the non-profit association KIDsmiling - a project for children and young people in need .

Origin and education

Sandra von Möller grew up in Freiburg i. Br. And graduated in 1988 from the Berthold-Gymnasium Freiburg . After graduating, von Möller studied law at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg and the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich , where she passed her first state examination in February 1993 . In January 1996 she received her PhD from the University of Freiburg. jur. PhD. In November 1996, she completed her legal clerkship at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court with the second state examination.

Professional career

Von Möller began her professional career in 1997 as a lawyer in the tax department of the auditing company KPMG in Düsseldorf. In 1999 she moved to the law firm Linklaters in Cologne, where she worked in the field of tax law and qualified as a specialist lawyer for tax law . From 2002 she worked for the international tax law department of Deutsche Post AG in Bonn. At the same time, she lectured on tax law at the Technical University of Cologne , where she has been a member of the Board of Trustees since 2014, and at the European University of Applied Sciences Fresenius Cologne . In 2008 she switched to the marketing department within the Deutsche Post Group. From 2000 to 2009 von Möller was co-author of the Lademann commentary on the Income Tax Act and published numerous articles for specialist journals and daily newspapers (see publications).

Since September 2009 von Möller has been running BÄRO GmbH & Co. KG together with her husband J. Manuel von Möller. The globally active medium-sized technology company based in Leichlingen specializes in lighting solutions for retail and air purification technology. Sandra von Möller is still responsible for the areas of law, taxes, human resources and marketing.

In addition to her work as a lawyer, von Möller founded the non-profit association KIDsmiling in 2003 - a project for children and young people in need , which she has been leading on a voluntary basis ever since. KIDsmiling supports children and young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds and those with a refugee or migration background. With projects in the fields of sport, culture and education, the association would like to strengthen adolescents and show them perspectives for the future. One focus is the KIDsmiling soccer project, which has existed since 2007.

Political engagement and IHK activity

From 2009 to 2013 von Möller was active as a directly elected member of the Cologne City Council for the CDU and was a member of the supervisory board of KölnKongress GmbH . Von Möller has been a member of the plenary assembly of the Cologne Chamber of Commerce and Industry since December 2012 and was Vice-President from 2015 to 2020. Since 2013 she has headed the then newly founded IHK working group “Diversity”; since 2016 she has been chairwoman of the IHK legal committee.

As part of her IHK work, she advocates, among other things, the integration of people with a migration and refugee background into the training and labor market, equal opportunities and the compatibility of career and family. In particular, in the discussion about women in management positions, von Möller takes a clear position: She advocates better childcare options, the tax deductibility of childcare costs as business expenses / business expenses, and advocates the quota of women in Germany. “It is important that women pursue their own path and personal goals, that they are persistent and courageous. In doing so, they should stand up for their rights […] ”, says von Möller. Since 2015 she has been leading the women’s business day “Women.Might.Career” of the Cologne Chamber of Commerce and industry and is the patron of the Business-Women-Cologne network, which she was instrumental in initiating.

Federal Cross of Merit

Sandra von Möller was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on February 21, 2017 for her voluntary commitment to socially disadvantaged children and young people as part of KIDsmiling . The award was made at the suggestion of the then Federal Minister for Labor and Social Affairs Andrea Nahles .

Von Möller is married to the entrepreneur J. Manuel von Möller and has three children.
