Lindweiler is a district in the left bank of the Rhine north of Cologne within the city district 6 (Chorweiler) .
location
Lindweiler is bounded in the east by the Cologne-Neuss-Krefeld railway line. In the south, runs A1 and the motorway junction Köln-Nord. The A 57 and the Cologne-Pesch district run west of Lindweiler and the motorway feeder from Chorweiler to the federal motorway 57 runs north.
history
The history of Lindweiler goes back to the Lindweiler Hof, first mentioned in 1276, of which a half-timbered and a brick building are still preserved today. On April 1, 1888, Lindweiler was incorporated into Cologne together with the Longerich mayor, who was responsible up until then . In 1945, emergency shelters were built in the district, none of which have survived today.
The area of Lindweiler is 1.16 km² and cannot increase.
The existing, buildable area is occupied, building plots suitable for building are as good as nonexistent. In 1980 there were 4,473 residents in Lindweiler, 4,043 in 1990 and 3,946 in 1995 in the city district. The population density was 3,401 inhabitants per km² in 1995; these lived in 1,555 households. The center in Lindweiler is the Marienberger Hof. Here you will find a bakery and a grocery store, a bar, a kiosk, a hairdresser and the "Haus Lindweiler" restaurant with bowling alley. Businesses have settled on Soldiner Strasse and Pescher Weg. There has been a general practitioner and a dentist in Lindweiler since the mid-1970s.

In 1990 Lindweiler had 4,043 inhabitants. Since then, the number of inhabitants has decreased until today. In 1995 the population decreased by 97 to 3,946 people. In 2009 the number was 3,487 and in 2017 it was 3,442 inhabitants.
Infrastructure
Lindweiler has a community elementary school and a special needs school. In the 2016/2017 school year, the primary school had 115 students.
