Lionel Souque (born August 19, 1971 in Paris ) is a French manager . He is the CEO of the Rewe Group .

Life

Souque holds a degree in business administration with a Master of Business Administration from ESSEC . He started his career at the Auchan department store chain . In 1996 Souque came to the Rewe Group, where he initially worked in Penny's purchasing and sales . In 2001 he moved to Billa in a managerial position . In 2007 Souque was appointed to the board of Rewe International . Since 2009 he has been CEO of Rewe Germany and a member of the Executive Board of the Rewe Group. In addition to the German supermarkets, Souque was also given responsibility for the Group's digital business.

At the end of 2016, the Rewe Group announced that Souque would replace Alain Caparros as CEO from 2019 . The group thus initiated a generation change at the top. In 2017 it became known that Souque would take over the chief position of the Rewe Group in the middle of the current year instead of 2019. He finally took up his new position in early July 2017.

Souque is married and lives with his family in Cologne. Since April 2016 he has been chairman of the supervisory board of 1. FC Köln .
