Christoph Johannes Ploß (born July 19, 1985 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the Bundestag since the 2017 federal election . He is deputy chairman of the CDU Hamburg and chairman of the CDU district association Hamburg-Nord.

Origin and professional career

Ploß grew up in Hamburg. After graduating from high school in 2005 at the Johanneum School of Academics , he did community service . He then took up a bachelor's degree in history and political science at the University of Hamburg , which he completed in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts . He then completed his Master of Arts in history with a focus on European Studies in Hamburg in 2011 . During his studies, Christoph Ploß received a scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation . In 2012 he started a doctoral degree at the University of Hamburg and worked for Dirk Fischer , a member of the CDU Bundestag . Ploß received his doctorate in 2017 with a thesis on the " New Commonwealth Society ", in which he examined the development of supranational European ideas. From 2015 to 2017 Ploß was press officer for the Bauer Media Group in Hamburg.

Political career

Ploß joined the CDU in 2005 and was elected to the Hamburg-Nord district assembly for the first time in 2008. Since 2010 he has been chairman of the CDU local association in Winterhude. In the district assembly, he had been deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group and parliamentary group spokesman for the environment and transport since 2011. Ploß has been the deputy chairman of the CDU Hamburg and chairman of the CDU district association Hamburg-Nord since 2016. Already at the end of 2016, Ploß was elected by the CDU Hamburg for the 2017 federal election in fourth place on the state list and as a direct candidate in the constituency of Hamburg-Nord / Alstertal as the successor to Dirk Fischer. In the federal election on September 24, 2017, Ploß prevailed with 33.5% of the first votes against the social democrat Dorothee Martin, who received 30.8% of the first votes. After his election to the Bundestag, he resigned from the Hamburg-Nord district assembly. In the Bundestag, Ploß is a member of the Committee for European Union Affairs and the Committee for Transport and Digital Infrastructure as well as a deputy member of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference.

Political positions

The political priorities of Ploß include the further development of the European Union, transport and infrastructure policy as well as the issue of "intergenerational equity". In a guest post in the WELT, Ploß called for the German pension system to be reformed and advocated a flexible retirement age, in which the amount of the pension would be linked to the working life.
