Christoph Reuter (musicologist)

Christoph Reuter (born November 28, 1968 in Duisburg ) is a German university professor for systematic musicology at the University of Vienna .

Life

Reuter studied musicology at the University of Cologne , received his doctorate summa cum laude in 1996 and received his habilitation there in 2002 . He has held visiting professorships or teaching positions at several universities (University of Vienna, Weimar ), and has been a managing partner at an Internet agency in Cologne since 2000. Reuter has been professor for systematic musicology at the University of Vienna since 2008 .

Scientific activity

His main research areas include " acoustic , physiological and psychological aspects of music perception" as well as music-related internet / software projects. Examples of his diverse studies in the field of systematic musicology are investigations into tone color perception , the variophone , music automatons , the perception of unpleasant noises and musical dice games .

Memberships

Reuter is a board member of the German Society for Music Psychology (DGM) and was editor of the yearbook of the Society for Music Psychology from 2006–2008. He is a board member and working group leader of the working group "Science" in the Austrian Society for Music and Medicine (ÖGfMM). He is also a member of the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music (ESCOM), the Consulting Board of Musicae Scientiae , the Austrian Society for Musicology (ÖGMW), the Society for Music Research (GfM), the German Society for Acoustics (Dega), the International Working Group for Systematic Musicology (IASM) and the Society for Self-Playing Musical Instruments (GSM)
