Christoph Schultze

Christoph Schultze (* December 1606 in Sorau ; † August 26, 1683 in Delitzsch ) was a German composer.

As the son of a weaver who died early, Schultze was trained in Lutherstadt Wittenberg and Torgau . In Torgau he was prefect of the cantor and private teacher until 1625. In 1625 he went to Leipzig. In 1627 he was enrolled at the University of Leipzig for medicine and philosophy. After giving up his studies, he worked from 1628 as cantor of St. Laurentius (Halle) . In 1633 he moved to Delitzsch as cantor, where he was also in charge of the rectorate from 1647 to 1650 .

  • The bitter suffering and death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ from the holy Evangelist Luca: composed according to the characters with 4 voices ( St. Luke Passion ). 1653.
