Christoph Unger

Christoph Unger (* 1958 in Braunschweig ) is a German lawyer and President of the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief .

Life

After military service and legal studies, Christoph Unger worked at the administrative court in Braunschweig . In 1990 he was appointed judge for life. From 1990 Unger worked in various functions in the Lower Saxony state parliament. From 1994 to 1998 he was a consultant in the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior, responsible for police law and association law. In 1998 he became head of the ministerial office of the Lower Saxony interior minister Heiner Bartling . In 2003 Unger took over the civil protection department and at the same time headed the competence center for major incidents in the ministry. In September 2004 he was appointed President of the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Aid in Bonn by the then Federal Minister of the Interior Otto Schily .

Christoph Unger is a member of the SPD .
