Christoph Vitzthum von Eckstedt (1552–1599)

Christoph Vitzthum von Eckstedt , also von Eckstädt , (* 1552 ; † July 19, 1599 ) was an Electoral Saxon civil servant and officer .

Life

He came from the noble family Vitzthum von Eckstedt and was a co-owner of the Kannawurf manor and the Eckstedt family estate , whose share he sold in 1591.

As a stable master he first entered the service of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg . He later became captain of Altenburg and, most recently, Colonel of Electoral Saxony and governor of Quedlinburg . His house there from 1597, the Vitzthum von Eckstedtscher Freihof , has been preserved to this day.

He was married to Maria von Hagen, the daughter of District Administrator Christoph von Hagen .

Christoph's sons were Dam, Georg, Johann Friedrich, Christoph Vitzthum von Eckstedt (1594–1653) and Johann.
