Christopher Aikman (* 1943 in Ottawa ) is a Canadian astrophysicist and astronomer .

He spent most of his professional life (from 1968 to 1997) at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory (DAO) in Saanich , British Columbia . His initial research was concerned with the spectroscopic examination of chemically suspicious suns, the surface composition of which deviates markedly from that of our sun . From 1991 to 1997, when he was discontinued, he led a program to track asteroids that were on Earth orbit . To do this, he used the 72 ″ telescope designed by John Stanley Plaskett .

He represented Canada at the Spaceguard Foundation, a group that deals with the threat to Earth from asteroid impacts. As a by-product of this research, he was able to record the discovery of four asteroids.
