Christopher Bathurst, 3rd Viscount Bledisloe

Christopher Hiley Ludlow Bathurst, 3rd Viscount Bledisloe , QC ( June 24, 1934 - May 12, 2009 ) was a British peer and politician.

life and career

Bathurst initially attended Eton College and then studied at Trinity College of the University of Oxford . He did his military service with the 11th Hussars. He was then admitted as a barrister at Gray's Inn . The focus of his work was in the area of commercial law . In 1978, like his father, he was appointed crown attorney .

He succeeded his father on June 17, 1979 as Viscount Bledisloe and since then has been active in the House of Lords alongside his legal work. In 1999 Bathurst was allowed to keep his seat in the House of Lords , where he sat as a crossbencher , as one of 90 elected hereditary peers . He died at the age of 74.

family

Bathurst was married to Elizabeth Mary Thompson from 1962 until their divorce in 1986. They have two sons and a daughter together.
