Christopher Cviić
Christopher Cviić ( Croatian Krsto Cviić ; born October 3, 1930 in Adžamovci ; † December 11, 2010 in London ) was a Croatian- British journalist and political advisor .
Life
He was born in 1930 in the Croatian village of Adžamovci near the town of Nova Gradiška , later the family moved to Zagreb , where his father was director of the National Bank of the Independent State of Croatia . He completed his German studies at the University of Zagreb . From 1954 he lived and worked in London. There he was a journalist with The Economist from 1969 (until 1999). In 1997 he was briefly editor-in-chief of the Croatian weekly newspaper Tjednik, published by Slavko Goldstein . He worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and advised Margaret Thatcher in the 1990s . Most recently he was also an advisor to Croatian President Ivo Josipović on foreign affairs.
