Christopher D. Ryan

Christopher David Ryan (born June 12, 1958 in Toronto , Canada ) is an Austrian sports commentator.

Career

Ryan moved to Vienna in 1966 after spending the first few years of his life in Canada. He graduated from high school in 1976 and then studied journalism and communication science, Slavic studies and statistics.

From 1977 to 2004, Ryan was a freelancer for the ORF sports department with a two-year break (1989-1991), during which he worked for Eurosport . Since 2004 he has been employed by ORF.

Ryan is considered an American football expert and has commented on all ORF Super Bowl broadcasts since 1998 . He is the only ORF commentator to comment on Austrian victories live at both the Olympic Winter and Summer Games (2004 triathlon victory for Kate Allen , 2006 ski jumping victory in the team competition).

In 2010 Ryan moved from ORF to the private broadcaster ServusTV , where he took over the chief position of the ice hockey editorial team. In 2011 he became head of sport at Red Bull Media House and Servus TV .
