Christopher Duntsch

Christopher Daniel Duntsch (born April 3, 1971 in Montana ) is a former American specialist in neurosurgery who worked at various clinics in the Dallas-Fort-Worth metroplex . He is also called Dr. Death, Dr. D and Dr. Called death . In 2017 , he was sentenced to life imprisonment for a number of gross medical errors that resulted in the death and disability of his patients.

Life

Duntsch was born in Montana but lived in Memphis, Tennessee for most of his youth . He graduated from the Evangelical Christian School in Cordova, a suburb of Memphis. Originally, he wanted to pursue a career as a professional football player, but only became a member of Division II Millsaps College and Division I Colorado State University. He then returned to Memphis State University (now University of Memphis ). Due to the frequent change of location, continuing his football career was no longer feasible. His new target was a neurosurgeon.

Duntsch completed an MD - PhD program and specialist training in neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center , also completing a spine specialization . During his training he was convicted of having operated under the influence of cocaine . After completing a program for doctors with drug problems, he was allowed to continue his education.

Artistic reception

In 2018, Wondery Media released a 6-part podcast series Dr. Death over Duntsch. This has also been offered in a German translation since August 2019.
