Domen Križaj

Domen Križaj (* 1989 in Kranj ) is a Slovenian opera singer with a baritone voice .

biography

Training and first appearances

Domen Križaj had been taking singing lessons since he was around 14 years old and was already enthusiastic about opera as a teenager. He studied medicine in Ljubljana and since 2012 singing with Matjaž Robavs at the music academy there. In 2013 he took part in the Young Singers Project of the Salzburg Festival. He gained his first stage experience in 2014 at the Ljubljana Music Academy in the role of Megotto in Niccolò Piccinni's La cecchina . From 2017 to 2019 he was a member of the Opera Studio at Theater Basel and performed in small and medium-sized roles in this context. In the 2019/2020 season he was a member of this house's ensemble. He introduced himself to the audience at the Frankfurt Opera with a recital in July 2020 and will be part of the ensemble there from the 2020/2021 season.
