Christopher Nigel Page

Christopher Nigel Page (* 1942 ) is a Scottish botanist . Its botanical author abbreviation is " CNPage ".

Page was Principal Scientific Officer for Conifer Research at Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden for 25 years . He worked on the development of strategies for the conservation of tree species. In 1976, Page founded the Conifer Conservation Program at Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden. He was the founder in 1986 and the first chairman of the Conifer Specialist Group of the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) until 1994 . Page is now a member emeritus of the SSC.

Page conducts research in evolutionary biology, among other things. A contribution by Page to the taxonomy of conifers is the breakdown of the genus Retrophyllum from the polyphyletic genus Nageia and the listing of the genus Afrocarpus from representatives of the genera Podocarpus and Nageia .
