Christopher Parkening

Christopher Parkening (* 14. December 1947 in Los Angeles ) is a US -American guitarist .

Parkening's penchant for music is based in large part on the influence of his cousin Jack Marshall, who was a studio musician in the 1960s. Marshall introduced the then 11 year old Christopher to the recordings of Andrés Segovia and encouraged the boy to take classical guitar lessons.

At the age of 19, Parkening had already won several competitions, made a few recordings and performed in concerts.

In 1998, Parkening took the film music side by side with the successful American composer John Williams ( Star Wars , Schindler's List , Harry Potter 1-3) .

Parkinging was nominated twice for a Grammy Award . There are a large number of recordings by Parkening on the Angel / EMI Classics label .
