Christopher Donald Sogge (born July 14, 1960 ) is an American mathematician.

Sogge studied at the University of Chicago with a bachelor's degree in 1982 and received his doctorate in 1985 with Elias Stein at Princeton University (Oscillatory integrals and spherical harmonics). From 1985 to 1987 he was a Dickson Instructor at the University of Chicago and then Assistant Professor. In 1989 he became an Associate Professor and in 1993 Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles , and since 1996 he has been a professor at Johns Hopkins University , where he became JJ Sylvester Professor in 2009 and headed the Mathematics Faculty from 2002 to 2005.

In 2005 he was Simons visiting professor at MSRI , 2010 to 2013 visiting professor at Zheijang University, 2003 Ordway visiting scholar at the University of Minnesota and 1987 at IHES .

Sogge deals with harmonic analysis and partial differential equations (such as Schrödinger equations, wave equations, Laplace operator on Riemannian manifolds).

He has been the editor of the American Journal of Mathematics since 2005 . He has been a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society since 2012 . In 1988 he received the Presidential Young Investigator Award and was a Sloan Research Fellow . In 2012/13 he was a Simons Fellow and in 2005 a Guggenheim Fellow. In 1994 he was invited to speak at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Zurich (Smoothing estimates for the wave equation with applications).

Daniel Grieser is one of his doctoral students .
