Christos Pantazis (born October 9, 1975 in Hanover ) is a German doctor and politician ( SPD ). He has been a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament since 2013 .

biography

Pantazis grew up as the son of Greek parents in Seelze and completed his school attendance there with the Abitur at the Georg Büchner Gymnasium and at the same time the Greek university entrance qualification. He then studied human medicine in Hanover , Basel and Ioannina . As a conclusion, he passed the third state examination. From 2004 until he moved into the state parliament in 2013, he worked as a doctor in the neurosurgical clinic at the Braunschweig Municipal Clinic . In 2013 he received his doctorate in medicine with a thesis on the biocompatibility of penetrating microelectrodes in the CNS using an animal model under the supervision of Madjid Samii .

politics

Pantazis has been a member of the SPD since 1998. From 2001 to 2004 he had a seat on the local council of Seelze. In the state elections in 2013 and 2017 , he won the direct mandate in the Braunschweig-Nord constituency . Since 2017 he has been deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group and spokesman for federal and European affairs as well as regional development. He has been chairman of the SPD Braunschweig since March 14, 2015.
