Christ Basilica (Barquisimeto)

The Basilica of Christ of Grace ( Spanish Basílica del Santo Cristo de la Gracia ) is a Roman Catholic church in Barquisimeto , capital of the Venezuelan state of Lara . The church of the Archdiocese of Barquisimeto was completed by the Redemptorists in 1955 and has the title of a minor basilica .

The Redemptorists had been represented at the site with a house of prayer since 1925. In 1940 they laid the foundation stone for the neo-Gothic church, which was consecrated in 1955. Following an application in 1989, Pope John Paul II gave the church the title of minor basilica in 1994 . The crucifix carved out of wood with a height of three meters is significant.
