The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Barquisimeto ( lat. : Archidioecesis Barquisimetensis , span. : Arquidiócesis de Barquisimeto ) is in Venezuela situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Barquisimeto .
history
The Archdiocese of Barquisimeto was on March 7, 1863 by Pope Pius IX. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Ad universam from cessions of territory from the Diocese of Mérida as the Diocese of Barquisimeto and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Caracas as a suffragan . On August 14, 1867, the Barquisimeto diocese was renamed the Coro diocese . The diocese of Coro was renamed the Diocese of Barquisimeto on October 22, 1869 . On October 12, 1922, the Diocese of Barquisimeto gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Coro . Another assignment of territory took place on June 7, 1954 to establish the diocese of Guanare .
The diocese of Barquisimeto was on April 30, 1966 by Pope Paul VI. raised to the archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Sedi Apostolicae . On October 7, 1966, the Archdiocese of Barquisimeto gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of San Felipe . Another assignment of territory took place on July 25, 1992 to establish the Carora diocese .
