history

Pope Paul VI founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Ex Quo Tempore it on October 7, 1966 from cessions of territory of the diocese of Valencia en Venezuela and the archdiocese of Barquisimeto , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese.
