The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Valencia en Venezuela ( lat. : Archidioecesis Valentinus in Venetiola , span. : Archidiócesis de Valencia en Venezuela ) is an in Venezuela situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Valencia . It covers part of the Venezuelan state of Carabobo .
history
Pope Pius XI founded the Diocese of Valencia en Venezuela on October 12, 1922 with the Apostolic Constitution Ad munus from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of Caracas, Santiago de Venezuela , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese. On November 12, 1974, it was raised to the rank of Metropolitan Archdiocese.
It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
- October 7, 1966 to the Diocese of San Felipe ;
- May 16, 1972 to the Diocese of San Carlos de Venezuela ;
- July 5, 1994 to the diocese of Puerto Cabello .
