The Roman Catholic Diocese of Barcelona ( Latin Dioecesis Barcinonensis in Venetiola ) is in Venezuela situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Barcelona .
history
The diocese of Barcelona was founded on June 7, 1954 by Pope Pius XII. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Summa Dei voluntate from assignments of territory by the Diocese of Ciudad Bolívar and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Caracas as a suffragan . On June 21, 1958 it became a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Ciudad Bolívar. On May 16, 1992, the Diocese of Barcelona was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Cumaná . On May 31, 2018, more than half of its territory and almost a quarter of the faithful gave up the establishment of the diocese of El Tigre .
